How your baby uses it at each age
6 to 9 months
Hand baby the smallest ring. They feel it, mouth it and pass it from hand to hand. Pulling the rings off the dowel is the first game.
9 to 18 months
Baby drops rings onto the dowel in any order. The threading motion is the win, and every click is a small "I did it" moment.
18 to 24 months
Mix the rings and show biggest first, once. Then wait. Baby spots the pattern, grades the rings by size and starts naming the colours.

Is the dowel safe in my baby's mouth?
The dowel is short (about 8 cm), rounded and sanded at the top, so it stays well short of the back of the throat. The toy is rated 6 months and up with adult supervision, and it is built for stacking play: the smooth rings are the part babies mouth.
Are the rings big enough for a 6-month-old?
Every ring's outer diameter clears the 32 mm choking gauge with margin (the smallest red ring is about 4 cm). Adult supervision is still required at all times.
